The place:
These photos are from a 30 minute span of time in one spot, Santa Lucea Beach on Hutchinson Island, Florida.
Capturing this place with a camera:
- You will need clouds in the sky!
- For sunrises, I am trending more toward using wide angle lenses, even as wide as 12mm (with a full frame mirrorless camera). This “expanse” can really be powerful because there is often so much going on in the sky that you would miss looking for that one orange ball rising over the sea.
- It is also a lot of fun trying various digital filters, either in camera or later in lightroom/photoshop.
- Even if you take no photos, simply drinking in a sunrise along with the sound of the sea is something we all need to do more of.
Interesting fact about this place:
If you go to this spot for a sunrise 100 mornings in a row, my guess is that you will be joined by others who are surf fishing all 100 of them.
